Enigma Machines, Dolls, and a Mini-Workshop in February
The next regular meeting of the Los Angeles 3-D Club will be Thursday, February 19, 7:15-9:45pm at the Armory Center For the Arts 145 N. Raymond, Pasadena, CA 91103.
It’s Oscar month, and one of the most popular nominated films this year is the 2-D movie The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie details the efforts of scientist Alan Turing to break the German enigma codes during WWII. We will dig into the LA 3-D Club archives to take a look at a show by Mike Hillyard (UK), on the Turing-Welchman Bombe, the code-breaking machine invented by Turing’s secret team for the British military, and used by the allies to gain an advantage in the war. This program presents the technology behind the device and chronicles the modern efforts to recreate and build a working replica of the original machine.
David Kuntz will present a 15 minute mini-workshop entitled “A Workflow for 3-D Photo Processing” which will provide a basic look at the tools for manipulating and improving 3-D images in Stereo Photo Maker and Adobe Photoshop.
We will also watch the second installment of Ron Labbe’s Fantastic Faces: A Suite in 5 Movements.
The meeting is free, and open to the public.
