This coming Sunday, August 1st, the Los Angeles Natural History Museum=
(900 Exposition Blvd. – next door to The Coliseum stadium) will be screeni=
ng the classic movie “Gorilla at Large” as part of its “B-Mo=
vies and Bad Science” series.=A0 While the 3D print is not being scree=
ned (sigh), what might be of interest to you is the chance to see at least =
part of the gorilla suit made and worn by George Barrows in=A0″Gorilla=
at Large” and other epics, including my personal 3D favourite “R=
obot Monster”.=A0

I have the privilege of being the conservator taking care of this wond=
erful costume, donated to the museum by George Barrows himself a few years=
=A0before his death=A0in 1994.=A0 I will be giving a short informal talk ab=
out its construction, use and conservation=A0before the screening of the mo=
vie, and parts -=A0if not all of it – will be on temporary exhibit=A0as par=
t of the event.=A0 The event is free and will take place on the South Lawn =
of the museum.=A0 Talk starts at 7.30pm and the movie runs at 8pm. Bring a =
picnic and a blanket and join the fun.
