The March meeting of the LA 3-D Club will take place on Thursday, March 20th from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at the Velaslavasay Panorama, 1122 W 24th St, Los Angeles, CA 90007
The evening will include the 4th competition of the LA 3-D Club year. The special theme for this month is RUSTY. We are still working to fix the file UPLOADER – please watch the uploader page for further instructions on how to enter this month’s competition.
The evening will also feature a slideshow of AI VICTORIAN OWL VIEWERS by LA 3-D Club Vice President Chris Casady. Chris used Black Forest Labs AI tool Flux to blend themes of Victorian era tabletop tableau‘s with antique optical devices blended with owls. This was meant as a sly tribute to Brian May’s owl viewer device. The resulting surreal still lifes were converted to 3-D with Luminosity, previously LeiaPix, also an AI trained tool.
And we will highlight the 1950s photography of L.A. signs and buildings by George Mann, as featured on the 3-D Legends website. This show, featuring images scanned and restored by Susan Pinsky, was first presented by 3-D SPACE at the Googie World Expo in November 2024. It looks at the life and career of performer, inventor, and stereo photographer George Mann, with a special focus on his photos of Los Angeles restaurants and coffee shops and the automated viewers that he created to display his slides.
The meeting will conclude with a club member “Show-and-Tell.” We would love to see your favorite 3-D images and collectibles. Members are encouraged to share an item of interest with the rest of the attendees. Share you favorite photos, videos, and 3-D items.
