October Meeting 10/19 – Claudia Kunin and 1st Competition

The October meeting of the LA 3-D Club will take place on Thursday, October 19th from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at the Velaslavasay Panorama, 1122 W 24th St, Los Angeles, CA 90007

The evening will include the 1st competition of the LA 3-D Club year. The special theme for this month is PETS. Club members may enter their images into the competition by using the UPLOADER which will be available online until 11:59pm on Oct 18th.

The evening will feature a presentation from artist Claudia Kunin. Internationally acclaimed for her work addressing the intersection of memory, history, and spirit, Ms. Kunin creates 3-D photographic animations. Her work transposes photographic stills into moving imagery, creating mesmerizing stories.

Her art has been extensively published, as well as receiving numerous awards. Previous exhibitions at various prestigious institutions include the Annenberg Space for Photography, the Museum of Photographic Arts, the Maison de Daguerre in Bry-sur-Marne, the Jewish Museum of Vienna, and the Museum of Jurassic Technology.

Ms. Kunin’s work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Museum of American History, the National Portrait Gallery, the George Eastman House Museum, the Museum of Photographic Arts, the Getty Research Institute, as well as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  Her archive will be housed in the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum of American History’s Photographic Collection.

She will be showing “Drift”, an animated film about one woman’s journey as she travels along the borderlands between life and death. “Joseph’s Dream”, depicting Joseph Cornell’s stereo collection coming to life, as well as “The Magic Lantern” featuring 10 short films from various series, including some “3-D Ghost Stories”, perfect for this eldritch time of year.

The meeting will conclude with a club member “Show-and-Tell.” We would love to see your favorite GHOSTLY 3-D images and collectibles. Members are encouraged to share an item of interest with the rest of the attendees. Share you favorite photos, videos, and 3-D items.
