PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE HOLIDAY SEASON, THE MEETING WILL BE ON THE FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH!
The evening will include a Holiday Potluck in the Panorama’s Back Garden (or indoors in case of inclement weather). Attendees are invited to bring food to share with everyone – an appetizer, main course, side dish, beverage, or dessert. We’ve set up a checklist to keep track of what food is coming.
Join in the White Elephant Gift Exchange. To participate, bring one WRAPPED gift to add to the exchange – preferably something 3-D related, and under $20.
.
The evening’s 3-D program will feature the premiere presentation of The PSA Hollywood Stereo Exhibition 2023, showcasing some of the best new stereo photography from around the world.
.
Our special guest presenter will be Nicholas Routhier, the founder of CubicSpace Technologies, a technology company based in Montreal that has been focused on the development of revolutionary stereoscopic (3D) image capture and processing technologies for extended reality (VR, AR, MR) and glasses-free 3D displays since 2016.
.
Passionate about 3D from a young age, he is fascinated by its ability to immerse and transport people into realistic and captivating worlds. For over two decades, he has been committed to democratizing the 3D experience by developing technologies, engaging with the 3D community, and advocating for the experience among producers, manufacturers, and the media.
.
In developing the CubicSpace technology, he aspired to make the creation, sharing, and visualization of 3D content accessible to everyone, breaking down the barriers between different technologies (3D, VR, AR), making the experience as user-friendly and intuitive as 2D, and providing access to the vast and rich nearly bicentennial 3D content heritage. Today, he collaborates closely with other 3D enthusiasts, both amateurs and professionals, and the industry to bring this vision to life and definitively democratize access to a high-quality 3D experience everywhere and for everyone.
.
“Stereoscopy’s long history dates back to almost 200 years ago with the discovery of stereopsis and invention of the first stereoscope. For nearly a century, a first golden age of 3D imagery raged around the globe, documenting historical locations, events and people in authentic 3D. This vast heritage of millions of 3D pictures is now part of public and private collections worldwide but remain hidden and unavailable to the general public. In this presentation, you will learn how advances in stereoscopic image processing and 3D display technologies are reviving this rich and vibrant heritage and open up new possibilities for museums, collections and the general public.”
.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and demonstrations using various display technologies including Acer ConceptD glasses-free 3D display.
.
The meeting will conclude with a club member “Show-and-Tell.” We would love to see your favorite holiday themed 3-D images and collectibles. Members are encouraged to share an item of interest with the rest of the attendees. Share you favorite photos, videos, and 3-D items.
We look forward to seeing everyone IN PERSON!
