January VIRTUAL MEETING 1/19/23

The LA 3-D Club January meeting will be virtual. We look forward to seeing our friends from all around the world in our Zoom room.

The January virtual meeting of the LA 3-D Club will take place on Thursday, January 19th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm on Zoom at la3d.club.

The evening will include the 3rd competition of the LA 3-D Club year. The special theme for this month is PATH. Club members may enter their images into the competition by using the UPLOADER which will be available online during the week before the meeting, until 11:59pm on FRIDAY, January 13th.

A 3D Collaboration on Earth and in Space

The Tex Treadwell Award at 3D-Con 2022 went to a joint entry from Vanessa Grein and David Kuntz. This is the first time in NSA history a collaborative stereocard set has won, and work of this kind is relatively unique in the 3D world. But, over the past two years, Vanessa and David have produced dozens of images together. Their output includes their signature nebula scenes and many other types of multi-image composites. In this presentation, Vanessa and David will describe some of their working methods and process, and of course, share many of their images.

About the Presenters

Vanessa Grein began her stereo journey in 2020. After experimenting with stereophotography, she decided to combine her two passions – painting and stereoscopy – and came up with stereoscopic nebula drawings. She posts a mix stereo photos, nebulae and fanciful composites, many of them in collaboration with David Kuntz. Vanessa has also become active in the NSA and is part of the Virtual Stereoscopic Society leadership team.

David Kuntz is a big deal in the 3D resistance. Or at least he thinks so.

The meeting will conclude with a club member “Show-and-Tell.” We would love to see your favorite 3-D images and collectibles. Members are encouraged to share an item of interest with the rest of the attendees. Share you favorite photos, videos, and 3-D items.
