The May meeting of the LA 3-D Club will take place on Thursday, May 15th from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at the Velaslavasay Panorama, 1122 W 24th St, Los Angeles, CA 90007
The evening will include the 5th competition of the LA 3-D Club year. The special theme for this month is BRIDGES. We are still working to fix the file UPLOADER – please watch the uploader page for further instructions on how to enter this month’s competition.
The evening will also feature a slideshow of stereo photos by new LA 3-D Club member Todd Eifert. The images were shot cha cha style with a Pixel Fold at the Portland Art Museum in August of 2023 at the Guillermo del Toro: Crafting Pinocchio Exhibit. It encompassed full puppets, sets and armatures from the 2022 del Toro movie Pinocchio.
Todd explains, “I’ve been shooting 3D since the mid 90’s. Mostly shooting nudes through the late 2000’s and then shooting mid century architecture and lots of various 1/6 scale model and toy doll shots so the del Toro puppets particularly interested me.”
And we will watch a short documentary, Artist Bears All: An Interview With A Wood Sculptor by filmmaker Jonathan Sabin. Meet Barre Pinske, a chainsaw sculptor who creates for the love of the craft and does business his own way. Filmed in 2023 in Chester, Vermont, this short was originally featured on the Vermont Seasons 3D Blu-ray, and was shown in the National Stereoscopic Association’s 2024 3D-Con Stereo Theater.
The meeting will conclude with a club member “Show-and-Tell.” We would love to see your favorite 3-D images and collectibles. Members are encouraged to share an item of interest with the rest of the attendees. Share you favorite photos, videos, and 3-D items.
